We’re proud to share that Bonus Homes has been recognized by two of the most respected voices in public policy and housing equity—the Brookings Institution and the Economic Architecture Project—as a Spotlight Innovator in their Valuing Homes in Black Communities initiative.

This prestigious honor highlights Bonus Homes’ commitment to transforming the way middle-class and historically underserved homeowners build wealth through equity, without the burden of debt or the need to sell their homes.

At the core of this recognition is our pioneering Home Appreciation Partnership (HAP) model. This unique solution allows homeowners to access their equity today—while still sharing in their home’s future appreciation. It’s not a loan. It’s not a reverse mortgage. It’s a smarter way to unlock wealth while staying in control of what matters most: your home.

Tackling the Racial Wealth Gap Through Innovation

According to research from Brookings, homes in Black-majority neighborhoods are undervalued by an average of 23%, equating to a loss of $48,000 per home — and over $150 billion in lost Black household wealth nationally. This undervaluation doesn’t reflect quality, location, or condition — it’s the result of structural racism embedded in the real estate and financial systems.

That’s exactly where Bonus Homes steps in. Our Home Appreciation Partnerships are designed to create new financial mobility for homeowners in undervalued areas, offering a way to preserve homeownership while generating meaningful cash today, without losing out on tomorrow’s gains.

At a Brookings-hosted event in Washington, D.C., Bonus Homes founder Kyle Kamrooz joined national housing leaders to discuss scalable solutions to this persistent challenge. The event focused on reshaping housing finance models to reflect true value, support wealth creation, and close the racial equity gap.

Inclusive Wealth-Building for All Americans

While this recognition celebrates our impact in Black communities, Bonus Homes is committed to helping all Americans access the financial upside of homeownership—our programs are inclusive of every homeowner striving to attain greater real estate wealth, regardless of race or background.

We believe every homeowner deserves access to smart, fair, and innovative financial tools, especially those left behind by traditional banking and mortgage systems.

A Moment of Recognition and Momentum

Being honored by the Brookings Institution and The Economic Architecture Project is more than a milestone for Bonus Homes; it’s a signal that the future of homeownership is changing. We’re incredibly grateful to be in such forward-thinking company and more inspired than ever to expand the impact of our work.

This recognition strengthens our mission: to ensure homeowners—especially those too often excluded from financial opportunity—can participate in the upside of the homes they’ve worked so hard to build.
